Autism conferences worth attending — India, Asia, and the world.

A curated 2026–2027 calendar of Indian, Asia-Pacific, and global autism and special-needs conferences — tiered by role, with honest notes on visa friction, virtual access, scholarships for Indian and LMIC participants, and a warning list of predatory paid-poster events to avoid.

Part I — India

1. India — Tier 1: National flagship conferences

Action for Autism — Dr Peter Vermeulen workshop

Next: 11-12 July 2026 · AFA National Centre, Sector 5, Jasola Vihar, New Delhi · Educators, clinicians, B.Ed Spl. Ed. ASD students

National Neuropedicon (IAP Pediatric Neurology Chapter)

Next: 23-25 October 2026 · Hotel Centrum, Lucknow · Paediatric neurologists

Strong autism-adjacent content — epilepsy, regression, genetic syndromes. About a third of moderate-to-profound autism has epilepsy comorbidity, which makes this one of the more clinically useful Indian neurology meetings for paediatric work. Host: IAP Pediatric Neurology Chapter.

PEDICON 2027 — Indian Academy of Pediatrics Annual Conference

Next: Early 2027 (host city TBA — IAP bid process underway) · ~₹10,000-18,000 (member) · Paediatricians, PG students

Not autism-specific, but where most Indian paediatricians get exposed to current consensus guidelines on neurodevelopmental disorders — the IAP Consensus Statement on ASD is updated through this body. Parents won’t attend; clinicians and school-affiliated medical officers should. pedicon2026.com (rolls over to PEDICON 2027 site once announced).

IACAMCON 19th edition

Next: Late 2027 (TBA, historically November-December) · ~₹4,500-9,000 (member) · Child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, paediatricians, special educators, researchers

Biennial. 18th edition was in Guwahati December 2025. The most academically rigorous Indian conference covering child autism alongside ADHD, learning disorders, anxiety and trauma — useful for clinicians who treat the whole child rather than autism in isolation. IACAM offers selective travel grants to PG students and early-career researchers. childindia.org

Third Global Autism Convention (GAC) — next edition

Next: 2028-2032 window (typically every 7-10 years) · Bengaluru (St. John’s) · Multidisciplinary

GAC ran 2011, 2018, 2026 — roughly every 7-10 years. The 2026 edition drew ~1,000 delegates and 155 speakers (Paramala Santosh, Daniel Fung, Valsamma Eapen, Lonnie Zwaigenbaum, Prathibha Karanth, Shoba Srinath). Dedicated tracks on autism intervention, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), and early language milestones — the single best Indian event for SLPs working with autistic children. RCI credits awarded. ishaindia.org.in

Next: Early 2027 (announced via AIOTA) · ₹4,500-8,000 (typical member rate) · Occupational therapists, sensory-integration specialists, paediatric OTs

3. India — Tier 3: Parent education and regional symposia

This is where most Indian parents will get the highest value per rupee. NGO-run, often subsidised, frequently parent-led, rolling intake.

Action for Autism — Parent Child Training Programme (PCTP), Delhi

Next cohort: July 2026 · Then September/October 2026 · January 2027 · AFA National Centre, New Delhi · Parents and parent-child dyads · Sliding-scale fees

PCTP runs three times a year in cohorts of 10-15 parent-child dyads. AFA explicitly works on a sliding-scale basis for low-income families — one of the few Indian providers that documents it. Contact helpline.afa@gmail.com. autism-india.org/Parent-Child-Training-Program.php

Forum for Autism (FFA), Mumbai

Next: Rolling Saturday workshops through 2026-27 (8-12/year) · Mumbai venues · Parents and family caregivers · Very low to free

Communication DEALL training programmes (Bengaluru)

DEALL (founded by Dr Prathibha Karanth, 2000) is one of the most-published early-intervention programmes from India; their training is where many Indian SLPs first learn structured ASD early-intervention protocols. comdeall.org

Latika (Latika Roy Foundation) workshops, Dehradun

Next: Rolling through 2026-27 · Multiple centres in Dehradun · Parents, teachers, frontline disability workers

One of India’s most respected NGOs for inclusion practice. Strong content for parents and teachers in the Uttarakhand-Delhi-NCR catchment. latikaroy.org/calendars

V-Excel Educational Trust short courses (Chennai + Maharashtra)

Next: Rolling RCI-accredited ATE Diploma + parent workshops · Chennai, Nashik, Solapur, Pandharpur, Erode, Pollachi, Srirangam, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai · Parents, special educators, professionals seeking RCI-accredited credentials

Strong network coverage for parents and teachers in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra small cities; RCI-credentialed pathways for therapists. v-excel.org

India Autism Center (IAC) — Samaavesh campus launch

Next: November 2026 — Samaavesh residential campus opens · Then ongoing programming through 2027 · Sirakol (1 hour from Kolkata) · Families, RCI-track caregivers

Tamana School of Hope events (Delhi)

Next: Event-driven, TBA · Vasant Vihar, New Delhi · Parents, special educators, therapists · Subsidised

Tamana runs workshops episodically rather than on a fixed calendar. Strong in lifespan and adult-autism content — a perspective most other Indian conferences underweight. Worth tracking for parents of teenagers and young adults. Contact director@tamana.ngo or +91-11-26143843. tamana.ngo

4. India — Hybrid and virtual options

Ministry of Education — “Understanding Autism: Seeing Strengths Beyond Differences”

Next: April 2027 (annual run, around Autism Awareness Month) · 4-day free online course · Teachers, school staff, parents · Free, English

Government-issued, credible, free. Useful for parents in tier-2/3 cities and school administrators who need a no-cost orientation.

Ummeed ECHO Autism

Next: Rolling tele-mentoring cohorts · Virtual · Allied professionals in smaller cities

Project ECHO tele-mentoring — present cases to a Mumbai hub team. For an OT or special educator outside a metro, this is the most efficient way to get periodic expert input on real cases without travel. ummeed.org

IACAM Academy Certificate Courses

Next: Batch VI starts February 2026; future batches expected on similar cadence · Online · Psychiatrists, paediatricians, clinical psychologists

Structured child-mental-health training including autism modules. iacamacademy.com

Next: Rolling intake · Online · School-leavers, graduates seeking RCI-certified caregiver credentials

5. India — Worth tracking (dates TBA / new in 2026)

  • GDBPCON (IAP Growth, Development and Behavioural Pediatrics Chapter) — most autism-relevant IAP sub-chapter. Watch iapindia.org/national-events.php.
  • Inclusive Education Summit 2027 (Ministry of Education) — policy-and-practice for special-education teachers and school administrators. Watch the Ministry’s annual calendar (typically January).
  • India Inclusion Summit — annual, typically mid-November in Bengaluru. ~800 attendees. Useful for parents thinking about adult-autism employment pathways. indiainclusionsummit.com
  • NIMHANS “Autism Synergies”[STATUS UNCERTAIN] — no live 2026 microsite. Contact the NIMHANS Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to verify any current call.
  • AIIMS Delhi pediatric neurology events — Track pedneuroaiims.org.
  • IHBAS Delhi — Watch ihbas.delhi.gov.in for CME activity.
  • Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy (IACPCON)[STATUS UNCERTAIN — last well-documented edition 2019]. Active in webinars; check iacp.co.in.

6. India — How to pick

  • For parents — start with the cheapest and closest. A free Ministry of Education online course, a Forum for Autism Saturday workshop in Mumbai, or an Action for Autism PCTP cohort in Delhi will give you more usable skills per rupee than a five-day medical convention. Save the Tier-1 events for after you have a year of basic ABA, communication and behaviour-management vocabulary.
  • Ask for parent waivers explicitly and in writing. Action for Autism and several NGO-run programmes operate on sliding scales but rarely advertise it. Email the secretariat with one paragraph on your child’s diagnosis date and household income — Indian autism NGOs respond positively more often than published policy suggests.
  • Use the RCI credit angle if you’re a clinician. I-CNCNC, ISHACon, AIOTA conferences carry RCI credit approval. RCI-registered therapists need credits for renewal; your organisation may reimburse the fee.
  • For school staff, demand institutional sponsorship using the RPwD Act framing. Schools receiving any government recognition are obliged under the RPwD Act 2016 and NEP 2020 to invest in inclusive-education capacity. Frame a conference budget request around that obligation, not a general “training” budget.
  • Verify URLs before paying. Several Indian conference microsites lapse and end up parked by unrelated businesses. Cross-check with the parent organisation’s permanent domain — IPS, IAP, ISHA, AIOTA, AFA, ASI — before sending any registration fee.

Part II — Asia-Pacific (excluding India)

7. Asia-Pacific — Tier 1: Major regional conferences

KKH Singapore — 2nd Developmental Paediatrics Conference (DPC) 2026

Next: 15-16 July 2026 (pre-conference workshops 14 July) · SingHealth Academia, Outram, Singapore · SGD 145-455 (~USD 110-340) · Paediatricians, allied health, caregivers · Registration already closed

Theme: “From awareness to action: Fostering resilience and positive mental health in children and families.” Clinically the closest international analogue to Indian tertiary-hospital practice (KKH models translate well to AIIMS/PGI/CMC). Singapore e-visa for Indians is 1-3 days; Mumbai/Delhi-SIN round-trip INR 18,000-32,000. Watch for DPC 2028. kkh.com.sg DPC 2026

19th Asia Pacific Congress of Pediatrics (APCP) 2026 — Colombo

Next: 26-29 July 2026 · BMICH, Colombo, Sri Lanka · Paediatricians

Substantial developmental paediatrics and child-mental-health content. Sri Lanka offers visa-on-arrival/ETA for Indians and is one of the cheapest international flights here (INR 18,000-30,000 round-trip). apcp2026.com

Japan Society for Autism Spectrum (JSAS) — 24th Research Conference 2026

Next: Live sessions 29-30 August 2026 (on-demand opens 21 August; closes 30 October) · Hybrid/streamed · Predominantly Japanese-language

Co-hosted by Hirosaki University Graduate School of Education. Language barrier is the main limiter for Indian attendees — useful mostly for researchers with translation support. autistic-spectrum.jp/pages/288

Australasian Society for Autism Research (ASfAR) 2026 — Melbourne

Next: 3-4 December 2026 · Parkville Campus, University of Melbourne · ~AUD 600-900 (member, projected) · Researchers, clinician-researchers, PhD students

Hosted by Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre. Typically 300-500 delegates — smaller and more academic than APAC. Best place to talk to early-career researchers and recruit collaborators. Australia visa: Subclass 600 visitor, ~AUD 195, 2-5 weeks. asfar.org.au/the-futures-of-autism-research-conference

Pacific Rim International Conference on Disability & Diversity (PacRim) 2027 — Honolulu

Next: May 2027 (annual; main programming typically late May) · University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, Honolulu · Disability researchers, special educators, OTs, SLPs, self-advocates

One of the few Tier-1 events with a real hybrid track — virtual option is the realistic path for Indian attendees because the US B1/B2 visa is the bigger barrier than the registration fee. Strong inclusive-education and disability-justice content. pacrim.coe.hawaii.edu

Asia Pacific Autism Conference (APAC) 2027 — Adelaide

Next: 2027 (exact dates TBA — bid secured early 2026) · Adelaide Convention Centre, South Australia · Full delegate AUD 1,750 (2025 baseline) · Researchers, clinicians, educators, allied health, policymakers, autistic adults, families

The biennial regional flagship. Past editions: Singapore 2023, Perth November 2025. Expected 1,500+ delegates from 30+ countries. The only Asia-Pacific event that pairs autistic-led plenaries with serious research, policy and lived-experience streams. Watch the Australian Advisory Board on Autism website and the eventual apac27.org. australianadvisoryboardonautism.org.au · 2025 archive apac25.org

APSSLH 2027 — Asia Pacific Society of Speech, Language and Hearing

Next: 2027, Singapore (exact dates TBA) · SLPs/SLTs and audiologists

2027 local host is Speech and Language Therapy Singapore (SALTS). Best 2027 option for Indian SLPs who want autism-relevant content in a culturally proximate setting. [STATUS UNCERTAIN — dates and fees pending] · apsslh.net

8. Asia-Pacific — Tier 2: Country-specific events

Autism Community Summit 2027 — Hong Kong

Next: April 2027 (annual, around World Autism Awareness Day) · Asia Society Hong Kong Center, Admiralty · Parents, educators, NGOs, psychologists, paediatricians

Hosted by The Children’s Institute of Hong Kong (TCIHK). Half-day, low-cost, parent-focused — the easiest “first international autism conference” for an Indian parent. Hong Kong allows Indian passport holders to pre-arrival register for a free 14-day stay — no full visa needed. Mumbai/Delhi-HKG round-trip INR 35,000-55,000. tcihk.org/summit

V International Autism Conference 2027 — Abu Dhabi

Next: Around April 2027 (annual, around WAAD) · Abu Dhabi · Government officials, researchers, healthcare and education professionals, AI/tech vendors, families

Host: Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. 2026 edition drew 3,000+ participants from 25+ countries. UAE is one of the easiest visa destinations for Indians — visa-on-arrival or 14-day e-visa. Mumbai/Delhi-AUH round-trip INR 18,000-32,000. Strong India ↔ Gulf clinician corridor; AI-in-autism, inclusive-employment and healthcare tracks. Watch autismconference-uae.ai

9. Asia-Pacific — Tier 3: Adjacent and specialist

ASAD 2026 — Asian Society Against Dementia, Manila

Next: 14-16 October 2026 (early-bird deadline 31 July 2026) · Makati Shangri-La, Manila

Dementia, not autism — included only for paediatric neurologists who also manage Down syndrome adults with early-onset dementia and similar ID-aging caseloads. dsp-asad2026.org

SEA ABAC 2027 — Southeast Asia ABA Conference

Next: Around April 2027 (annual) · Philippines (TBA) · BCBAs, behaviour technicians, ABA-trained clinicians, special educators

2026 rates: Full members PHP 8,900-11,850 (~USD 155-205); international participants USD 210-280. The most affordable, regionally-relevant ABA event in Asia for Indian BCBAs and BCaBAs. Curriculum is practical (ethics, supervision, parent training). seaaba.org

Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Federation (APDSF) — next AGM/Games

Next: TBA (last AGM January 2026, Bali) · Federation gathering, not a clinical congress

APDSF is the closest regional infrastructure to a “Down Syndrome / ID Asia Pacific Congress.” Watch apdsf.org.

10. Asia-Pacific — Strong virtual access

  • JSAS Japan 24th Research Conference (Aug-Oct 2026) — predominantly on-demand streaming. Language barrier (Japanese) is the constraint.
  • PacRim Honolulu (May 2027) — explicit in-person + virtual track. Best Tier-1 virtual option for Indian SLPs/OTs/educators.
  • TCIHK Autism Community Summit (Hong Kong, April 2027) — primarily in-person, but past editions have had partial recording availability. Email before paying for a flight.

11. Asia-Pacific — How to pick

  • Start with visa friction, not registration cost. Hong Kong (pre-arrival), UAE (visa-on-arrival/e-visa), Singapore (e-visa) and Sri Lanka (ETA) are essentially open doors. Australia (Subclass 600, 2-5 weeks), Philippines (visa) and the US for Honolulu require real planning.
  • Cost-per-day matters more than headline registration. A 2-day Hong Kong summit (HKD ticket + INR 40,000 flight + 2 hotel nights) often beats a 3-day Australian conference (AUD 1,750 + INR 1,10,000 flight + 4 nights) for the same learning value.
  • Use virtual tickets to “audition” a conference before flying. PacRim Honolulu, JSAS Japan and the Autism Parenting Summit offer remote access. Attend once virtually; if speakers and tracks are worth it, plan the in-person trip next cycle.
  • Apply for scholarships early. Write to the secretariat 4-6 months out — a polite note that you’re an Indian parent or clinician working in a low-resource setting is taken seriously. Keep a one-page bio and a one-page service description ready.
  • Match the conference to your role. Parents get more from TCIHK Hong Kong and KKH Singapore than from INSAR. BCBAs get more from SEA ABAC than from a generic “International Conference on Autism.” Avoid WASET-style indexed conferences.

Part III — Global

12. Global — Tier 1: The flagships

CEC 2027 Convention — Council for Exceptional Children

Next: 10-13 March 2027 · Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus OH · Special education teachers, school administrators · Virtual tier available

National Autistic Society (UK) — Annual Professionals’ Conference 2027

Next: March 2027 (annual, fully online) · Online + on-demand · CPD certified · Educators, clinicians, support workers

UK-anchored but the content (autism in schools, mental health, education law) overlaps usefully with Indian practice. Online format + CPD certificate = pluses.

APBA Convention 2027

Next: March 2027 (in-person) + dedicated Virtual Leadership Conference June 2027 · USD 63-475 (among the more affordable major ABA conferences) · Practising behaviour analysts

Cheaper and smaller than ABAI, strong practitioner focus. The virtual edition is explicitly designed for international access. apbahome.net

Profound Autism Summit 2027

Next: Around April 2027 (annual) · Boston (typical) · USD 225-525 early bird · Virtual tier

Almost no other conference focuses on profound autism (severe co-occurring ID, non-speaking, lifelong support needs) — a substantial slice of the Indian autism population. Scholarship applications typically close 1 March; watch profoundautismsummit.org.

Autism Parenting Summit (Autism Parenting Magazine)

Next: May 2027 (annual) · Fully virtual · Free to watch sessions live · 60,000+ across editions; 30+ speakers including Temple Grandin

The single most accessible global event on this list for Indian parents — free, virtual, parent-focused. Indian parents new to the autism conference world should start here.

INSAR 2027 Annual Meeting — Cape Town

Next: 19-22 May 2027 · Cape Town, South Africa — first INSAR ever held in Africa · Researchers, clinician-scientists, PhD students

~2,200 delegates typical. Full registration historically USD 600-900 depending on member status. India qualifies for INSAR’s LMIC tier on both membership and registration — single most important scholarship for Indian researchers on this list. INSAR On-Demand offers recorded sessions after the meeting. South African visa is generally faster than Schengen. autism-insar.org/page/2027_INSAR_Annual_Meeting · LMIC tier autism-insar.org/page/LMICmember

Name note: INSAR was called IMFAR until 2018. Same meeting series.

ABAI Annual Convention 2027

Next: Late May 2027 (annual) · USA host city TBA · ~USD 1,095+ for full member · 5,000+ delegates typical · Virtual access tier and on-demand recordings

Global home for BCBAs. Autism is one of the largest tracks. The virtual tier is the practical option for Indian readers. US B1/B2 visa wait at Mumbai is 7-10 months — plan 12+ months ahead. abainternational.org

Online Autscape 2027

Next: February 2027 (annual online edition) · Zoom + Discord · Autistic adults primarily

The original autistic-led conference. The online tier is one of the few genuinely autistic-run, internationally accessible events.

State Autism Society conferences (parent-accessible US)

Next dates through 2026-27: Autism New Jersey 22-23 October 2026 (Atlantic City, ~1,500 attendees, USD parent rates); Autism Society of North Carolina March 2027; AutismConnect (South Carolina DDSN) April 2027 (free registration); Autism Society of Minnesota 2026 (fully virtual two-half-day); Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin annual.

Pan-African Congress on Autism (PACA) — next edition

Next: TBA (2026 edition was 15-18 April 2026, Gaborone, Botswana) · Professionals, researchers, parents, self-advocates, educators, policy makers

Theme of the 2026 edition: Rooted in Culture, Driven by Science: Advancing Inclusive Autism Services Across Africa. PACA’s framing — culturally rooted, LMIC-grounded — is closer to India’s autism reality than any North American conference. Pairs naturally with INSAR 2027 Cape Town for a “South-South” research conversation.

World Autism Organisation (WAO) Congress 2026

Next: 3-5 November 2026 · Windhoek, Namibia · International parent/advocate/practitioner blend · Namibia is e-visa territory for Indians

A pan-global, advocacy-leaning congress hosted in Southern Africa. Don’t confuse with the unrelated paid “World Autism Congress” / “World Congress on Autism Research & Innovation” branded events — those are predatory.

Autism-Europe XV International Congress

Next: 2028 (every 3 years; XIV was Dublin 2025) · TBA · Parents, self-advocates, clinicians, researchers, educators

The most genuinely family-inclusive of the big international congresses. Worth bookmarking even though there’s no 2026/2027 edition. autismeurope.org

⚠️ Several commercial events branded “European Autism Congress” or “8th European Autism Congress” (Paris, May 2026) are not run by Autism-Europe — they are predatory conferences. Verify the host before paying.

13. Global — Tier 2: Specialist scientific and professional

Society for Neuroscience — Neuroscience 2026

Next: 14-18 November 2026 · Washington DC · USD 500-900+ · Neuroscientists; autism/neurodevelopmental sessions are a sizeable subset

For Indian neuroscience PhDs working on autism biology. Realistic move: follow on-demand and target a poster submission for early-career discount tiers.

ISAAC Virtual Conference 2026

Next: 10-11 November 2026 · Theme: “AAC in Everyday Life” · Built for global virtual access

The single highest-value event on this entire list for Indian SLPs serving non-speaking autistic kids. AAC is desperately under-served in India.

ASHA Convention 2026 — Indianapolis

Next: 19-21 November 2026 · Indianapolis · Speech-language pathologists, audiologists · Reliable online track with on-demand

The largest SLP convention in the world. Virtual tier is the right call for Indian SLPs.

Next: 2027-2028 (cadence varies; ICECI 2026 was Kuşadası, Turkey) · Early-intervention researchers and practitioners

Cognitive Neuroscience Society — CNS 2027

Next: 2027, Boston · Cognitive neuroscience researchers, including substantial autism/ADHD/developmental tracks

More accessible scale than SfN; strong on autism cognition.

14. Global — Tier 3: Parent advocacy and neurodiversity-led

Latin American autism congresses (Brazil leads, 2026-27)

  • Conect Autismo 2026 — 21-23 August 2026, Centro de Eventos do Ceará.
  • VIII Congresso Interamericano de Autismo e Políticas de Inclusão — 11-13 September 2026, Curitiba.
  • Jornada do Autismo 2026 — São Paulo. ~6,000 attendees, self-described as the largest in Latin America.

Largely Portuguese, so practical relevance is limited unless you read Portuguese — but Jornada do Autismo’s scale signals where the autism conversation is growing globally outside the US/UK.

In-person Autscape 2026 — UK

Next: 17-20 August 2026 · High Leigh conference centre, Hertfordshire UK · Autistic adults

The original autistic-led conference. The in-person edition is autistic-centred — useful framing for Indian advocates exploring neurodiversity-led models.

16. Global — Scholarships for Indian / LMIC participants

  • INSAR LMIC membership and registration discount. India is on INSAR’s LMIC list. The single most important scholarship for Indian researchers. Apply via autism-insar.org well before INSAR 2027 abstract deadlines.
  • Profound Autism Summit conference scholarships. Limited each year; applications typically close 1 March. Track profoundautismsummit.org.
  • TASH historically offers self-advocate/family registration discounts. Write to the TASH conference team directly.
  • PACA explicitly encourages submissions from emerging researchers and underrepresented populations.
  • Autism Parenting Summit: not a scholarship — it’s simply free to watch live.
  • NIH Autism CARES Network meetings: gated to NIH grantees. Indian researchers can only access via collaboration with US-based grantees.
  • Predatory conferences to avoid: Paris/London/Madrid events branded as “European Autism Congress” or “World Congress on Autism Research & Innovation” advertise generous discounts. Not affiliated with Autism-Europe or INSAR. No academic value.

17. Global — How to pick

  • Virtual-first is the default, not the fallback. Start with the free virtual events. Build the habit of attending a global virtual conference quarterly before you ever consider flying.
  • Build a scholarship calendar 6-12 months ahead. INSAR LMIC registration opens months before the meeting; Profound Autism Summit scholarships close in March each year.
  • If you must travel to the US, start the B1/B2 process today. First-time waits in Mumbai are 7-10 months. Chennai is fastest at 1.5-4 months.
  • Posters are the cheapest entry point. A submitted-and-accepted poster unlocks the early-career registration tier at INSAR, ABAI, AUCD, ISAAC, and PACA — usually 30-50% cheaper than full registration.
  • For parents: do not pay USD 500 for a US summit when free virtual options exist. Autism Parenting Summit (free, May), Autscape Online (February), and NAS UK’s online conference (March, recordings) together cover most of what an Indian parent gains from any paid US parent conference.
  • Watch the South-South corridor. PACA and INSAR 2027 Cape Town signal a real shift toward LMIC-led autism research closer to India’s reality than San Francisco or Boston.

18. Honest caveats

  1. Conference details change. Dates slip, hosts go silent, microsites lapse. Verify on the official page before you book a flight or pay registration. Last researched: 2026-06-11.
  2. Predatory conferences are real and proliferating. “World Congress on Autism,” “European Autism Congress,” “International Conference on Autism Research” — many of these are commercial event-management companies running pay-to-publish conferences with no scientific committee. The pattern: vague host organisation, glossy website, suspiciously broad call for papers, no past-edition records. Look up the host on the parent organisation’s permanent domain before paying.
  3. Virtual-first is not a compromise. It is the right default for most Indian readers. Travel friction, visa lead times, and registration costs of in-person attendance at INSAR/ABAI/CEC/AOTA dwarf the virtual ticket. Treat the virtual tier as the primary product.
  4. Conferences ≠ training. A 3-day conference exposes you to ideas. It does not train you. The right ladder is: free online course → Saturday workshop → 6-12 week parent/professional training programme (PCTP, UPPA, AITP, DEALL, ECHO) → conference (to see what’s next). Skipping the training step and chasing conferences leaves most attendees inspired but no more capable.
  5. Get the basics in place first. UDID, Niramaya health insurance, the right diagnosis paperwork, an RCI-registered local therapy team — these are what change outcomes. Conferences are the next layer. See our companion article on funding autism & special-needs care in India for the financial side.
