If your camera supports RTSP — the open streaming standard built into almost every prosumer security camera — you paste the stream URL and Ethan AI takes over from there. No new wiring, no new hardware, no firmware to flash.
What it looks like
Most cameras publish a stream URL that looks something like this:
rtsp://username:password@192.168.1.10:554/stream1You will usually find it inside your camera’s own app under Settings › Advanced › RTSP, or on the manufacturer’s support page. Paste it into Ethan AI once and you are connected for good.
If your camera also speaks ONVIF, Ethan AI can discover it on your network automatically — you just confirm the camera and provide your local login.
Cameras that work today
Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, CP Plus prosumer NVRs, TP-Link Tapo, Imou (non-battery), Annke, UniFi Protect, Swann (wired) — and any other ONVIF-compatible camera.
Coming soon — sign-in support for cloud cameras: Google Nest, Amazon Ring, Wyze. No URL needed; you authorise Ethan AI once and we connect through the camera’s cloud.
No compatible camera yet? Our recommended starter list — Imou Cue 2, Reolink E1 Pro, or a basic Hikvision indoor — ships from Amazon.in in 48 hours. A spare laptop webcam or an old phone is enough to try Ethan AI on the free trial.
Choose the behaviours you want monitored.
Pick the patterns that matter for your child or your therapy programme. Each behaviour can be turned on or off any time, and you can add caregivers — a parent, a grandparent, a therapist — with their own view of what is relevant to them.
What Ethan sees today
Head-banging — rapid, repeated head movement, alerted within seconds and escalated to urgent if sustained.
Crying and distress sounds — sustained crying, wailing, whimpering or screaming. Short yelps are debounced so caregivers are not alerted by isolated sounds.
Glasses on or off — each transition is logged with a timestamp, so therapists and parents can see the pattern over weeks rather than guess at it.
Every alert carries a confidence reading you can see, plus a plain-English explanation. Caregivers review what mattered, not raw footage.
What is coming next
We are building — in this order, shaped by what families in our Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad pilots tell us they need:
Hand-flapping and stimming patterns · Rocking · Falls and sudden posture loss · Climbing furniture · Hair-pulling and skin-picking · Object thrown · Prolonged stillness.
Custom behaviours for therapy centres. Clinic plans support behaviours scoped specifically to your programme. We design, build, and validate them together with your centre before deployment.
Get the alert where you already are.
Alerts arrive where the people who care already are — the parent on email, the therapist on Slack, the connected home through Home Assistant, the grandparent on her phone. You choose; Ethan AI delivers.
Where alerts arrive
Email — instant for each alert, plus a weekly digest you can scan in a minute.
Slack — a clean card to the channel of your choice. Therapy teams use this most.
Webhook — a signed POST to any URL you control. Power users wire this into their own dashboards, log stores, or PagerDuty escalations.
Web push — coming soon. Browser notifications that arrive even when the Ethan AI tab is closed.
Every channel respects per-severity quiet hours, so the urgent escalation still rings at 2 AM but the “glasses came off” log waits until morning.
Plug it into your routine
Through the webhook, Ethan AI joins whatever your home or clinic already runs on:
Home Assistant · IFTTT · Zapier · Make · n8n · Hubitat · Shelly.
Trigger a smart bulb on a distress alert. Speak the alert through Echo via Home Assistant. Send each event to a Google Sheet for clinical review. Forward to WhatsApp through a Zapier zap. If your home talks to itself, Ethan AI joins the conversation.
Family share — one camera, up to five caregivers, each with the channels and quiet hours that suit them.
Native Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa are on our roadmap. Today you can already reach them through Home Assistant, which we are happy to help you set up.
